Thrombophob gel adalah suatu bentuk baru dalam terapi heparin sodium untuk kulit. Heparin dapat mencegah pembekuan darah dan membantu proses fibrinolisa. Mikrotrombi (butir-butir bekuan darah) yang terdapat di sekitar kulit dapat diserap lebih cepat. Gel ini tidak boleh dipakai dengan cara menggosok atau memijat dan sebaiknya kulit dibersihkan dulu, supaya obat bekerja lebih baik. Pada luka-luka terbuka, misalnya pada tukak, Thrombophob hanya dipakai di tepi-tepi luka, dan tidak pada luka itu sendiri. Tidak boleh dioleskan pada luka yang terbuka.
