KOMPOSISI

FARMAKOLOGI (CARA KERJA OBAT)
Acyclovir adalah obat antivirus yang sangat aktif secara in vitro terhadap virus Herpes simplex (HSV) tipe I dan II dan virus Varicella zoster (cacar air).

Toksisitas acyclovir terhadap sel penjamu sangat rendah.

Fungsi & Dosis ZOVIRAX-Acyclovir-Aciclovir

Di dalam sel yang terinfeksi virus herpes, acyclovir mengalami fosforilasi menjadi zat aktif acyclovir triphosphate. Acyclovir triphosphate bekerja menghambat DNA polymerase sehingga mencegah sintesis DNA virus tanpa mempengaruhi proses normal sel.

INDIKASI
Zovirax krim (salep) diindikasikan untuk pengobatan infeksi virus Herpes simplex pada kulit termasuk infeksi baru atau berulang herpes genital (kelamin) dan herpes mulut.

KONTRAINDIKASI
Zovirax krim kontraindikasi bagi penderita yang diketahui hipersensitif/alergi terhadap acyclovir atau propylene glycol.

PERINGATAN DAN PERHATIAN

• Zovirax krim tidak dianjurkan diberikan pada membrane mukosa seperti mulut, mata, atau vagina karena dapat menjadi iritan pada daerah tersebut.
• Perawatan khusus diperlukan untuk mencegah mata terkena Zovirax krim.
• Pemberian Zovirax krim pada ibu hamil hanya boleh diberikan bila potensi manfaat terapi melebihi risiko efek sampingnya.
• Belum ada studi mengenai efek Zovirax krim pada fertilitas wanita.
• Studi yang masih terbatas jumlahnya menunjukkan bahwa obat dapat masuk ke dalam air susu ibu (ASI) setelah pemberian obat melalui oral (obat minum).

EFEK SAMPING

• Sensasi rasa terbakar dapat terjadi setelah pemberian Zovirax krim pada beberapa penderita.
• Kulit kering terjadi pada sekitar 5% penderita.
• Kulit kemerahan dan gatal pernah dilaporkan terjadi pada beberapa pasien.
• Dermatitis kontak pernah dilaporkan (sangat jarang).

INTERAKSI OBAT

• Probenesid meningkatkan waktu paruh pada pemberian acyclovir sistemik (oral).

DOSIS DAN CARA PEMBERIAN
Dewasa dan Anak
Zovirax krim sebaiknya diberikan 5 kali sehari dengan interval kurang lebih tiap 4 jam. Zovirax krim sebaiknya diberikan pada kulit yang sakit segera setelah terjadi infeksi. Pengobatan sebaiknya dilanjutkan sampai 5 hari. Jika proses penyembuhan belum tampak, lamanya pengobatan dapat dilanjutkan sampai 10 hari.

SIDE EFFECTS

1. Probenecid increases the half-life in the systemic administration of acyclovir (oral).

DOSAGE AND METHOD OF GIVING
Adults and Children
Zovirax cream should be given five times a day at intervals of approximately every 4 hours. Zovirax cream should be given to the affected skin immediately after infection.
